Donald Cameron
b. 1730
Donald was baptised on 16 May 1730, a son of John Cameron of Kilmonivaig, the place of birth given as Bohuntine. He married Katrin McGrigor in 1752. The McGrigors lived on the northern shore of Loch Rannoch; Donald was then at Aldhonigan.
If Duncan’s identification is right, Donald would have been about fifteen when Prince Charles Edward Stuart landed, and sixteen at Culloden. He probably made his way into Rannoch while Cumberland’s troops were rooting out Jacobites.
Their son Duncan was baptised in Fortingall parish on 29 August 1756, and later appears in the Finart school roll.
