Our walking and backpacking trip to the Pyrenees to do the "3000 Ibones", including a road trip back home
@TimKStanton @khusky yes, the 4 main corners and 2 pole guys were staked down really well. We had some problems in high winds with the extended walking poles collapsing. Needed tightening. We also had...
@TimKStanton @khusky don't quite know how the new Durston Mid-X 2 did it really. Full on storm conditions (thunder, lightning, hail, gale force winds) all night and we were relying on a new tent held...

Just returned from an amazing week in the including a 3 day backpacking trip. After getting our asses kicked by storms on the first night we crossed over the Haute Pyrenees from Spain to France via 25...

I've arrived in the Pyrenees. As you can see there are some stunning sights. Heading up into the mountains tomorrow With @khusky
Big country Spain, 10 hours drive north starting today, heading for the High Pyrenees (Pirineo Aragonés, 3000 Ibones) and a weeks backpacking. Looking forward to some splendid isolation, camping by la...

Today I've had a tough day lying asleep in a field of daisies, under the sun, surrounded by high mountains. It was hell, I tell you, but somebody has to do it.

Just set my new T-Deck Plus on my local network. Looks a bit like an old Blackberry eh? Working well on existing home . Will be testing it on the hiking trails next week.

Still plenty of snow around still in Spain's Sierra Nevada. May need micro spikes or crampons to cross snow slopes pre-midday but after that it becomes soft very quickly. This is @khusky traversing so...
@cutting that looks a superb route! We are doing a week long trek called 3000 Ibones. All the refuges are closed so we are carrying all our gear. Check snow conditions on the passes of your route, loo...

It's a week before we head off to the Pyrenees for a week long trek. Seems there is more snow than normal for June so will have to take crampons and ice axes to cross the high passes and maybe summit...

The magical world of the snow tunnel Lavaderos de la Reina, Sierra Nevada, España 27th May

Don't normally do selfies but does show you my new super duper "Ranger" camera bag from https://www.leichtmut.de/product/the-ranger-ultralight-camera-bag/ Can be worn on chest but I prefer as a waist...

Waterfalls tumbling out of Lavaderos de la Reina valley in Spain's Sierra Nevada yesterday
@luiseme we have managed 12km communication distance (line of sight) so should work better than walkie talkies in a mountain environment
@luiseme I have but only locally. I am waiting for a second T1000-E to arrive and then me and my partner will take both into the Sierra Nevada and use for communication whilst hiking.

@bergmeister It certainly beats my self made map of the northern section of a trek on the Patagonian Icecap which I made in 2010 using a large scale map but with my own grid lines superimposed (and pr...

Building a small local Meshcore network here with LoRa radios. Managed to communicate with the repeater on my roof from a SenseCap T1000-E, some 7 kilometers away. Much further reach than I originally...
Just ordered a new thru hiking tent from Durston - a X-Mid-2. My first purchase from them. 3 season, good reviews, only 880 grams (31oz) and very reasonably priced. Hoping it arrives from Canada in ti...
