The old spanish "cortijo". I wonder what tales this old ruin has to tell?

@barhamon thanks for the recommendations. Will have a look

@NormanDunbar good morning. I enjoy reading your toots, especially as it reminds me of my days in the UK. I've always lived in Leeds area namely, Rawdon, Adel, Shadwell, Bramhope and Headingley suburbs. Reminds me of home :sablobsmilehappy:

I think Rita enjoys plunging through the morning dew on the grasses
Comet ZTF (C/2022 E3) the next bright comet to pass earth. Good article about the comet and where/how to view it.
@uoou "The federated timeline shows all public posts from all users who are âknownâ to your instance. That is, it includes every user on your instance, but it also includes everyone that users on your instance follow â even if those users are on other servers. Itâs not the same thing as âevery user on mastodonâ though."

@kev Nice. Going to try it this week
@[email protected] presumably your blossom season has already started in the Canaries? Some of our trees here are just producing their first flowers.

@matthewbennett very scary stuff
Panorama of the snow capped mountains of Spain's Sierra Nevada taken by https://chriswright.photography/. Shot from the Sierra Lujar to the south about half an hour before sunset.
Having a lot of fun this morning having a first look at #ChatGPT. It's still at testing stage but you can try it at https://chat.openai.com/
As a lover of all #technology related things, I find it an exciting glimpse into the future.
But is it going to be an ultimately good or bad thing? Plenty of food for thought as I continue to play around.
@Grahunt isn't it nice and quiet? Much prefer normal Spain after fiestas. But, there again, I'm a grumpy old man :sablobsmilehappy:
@Halfdan its come out well. I'm encouraged to try a few myself.
@Caitoz create your own instance?
@Steveb very true :sablobsmilehappy:
@SilverRainbow Thats how I migrated to my own server. You can import followers and following etc
This morning I set up a basic website using my favorite SSG #eleventy, together with Tailwind CSS and Alpine js.
Used https://css-tricks.com/eleventy-starter-with-tailwind-css-alpine-js/ as a guide. Whole thing from start to production build, including PostCSS optimisation took 30 minutes. Makes life very easy for us amateur developers. Recommended đ

Looking down on the town of Lanjarón this morning, with the Venta El Buñuelo and main road below. Have a great weekend all my fellow Mastodoners
@sierranevada I love this place. Spectacular scenery and dramatic locations. One of the unique hiking destinations in Europe!
It's a beautiful day!

Impromptu flamenco in a local bar tonight. One of the reasons I love rural Spain

@eleventy done it. Sorry, missed that. Website is markdown with some very simple CSS, images hosted on Cloudinary. Eleventy made it so easy to throw the whole thing together.
@eleventy today! A one page (23k word) research/history of my grandfather's involvement in World War One https://elperronegro.com/harrys-war/
@sarahl I couldn't watch second half. Had heart attack 3 years ago and don't want another :sablobsmilehappy:
@[email protected] I had major problems and was extremely stressed out. Couldn't see me working the remaining 25 years of my working life there. So, I walked out. That same day, just left. Gave up money and security for freedom. A huge weight lifted immediately but it took 6 months before I destressed my life and took it in a direction that I wanted and still love. Advice is ... change is very hard but have patience and persistence. Also work should make you happy so do something you enjoy.
@bergmeister I've been caught in blizzards on the Patagonian Icecap in the past. Never experienced wind like it. Spent all night holding onto the tent poles!
@Steveb they are a bit .. loud! đ€Ł
@bergmeister relentless is a good description. It hardly never stops. Part of the wonderful experience that is Patagonia
Me and Cerro Torre! The closest I ever came to this magnificent mountain, a sight that will live long in the memory. Of course, to get up there I'd need helicopter assist đ

@nixCraft yes. Full time for the last 12+ years
I run my own small, personal Mastodon instance and my federated timeline tab doesn't update very quick, certainly nowhere near as quick as when I had an account with a large instance. Is there a server step I have missed and failed to complete?

@Steveb my Spanish is a mix of Yorkshire and Andaluz, therefore people from Madrid smile when I talk to them :sablobsmilehappy:
@Steveb I use the Waylet app to buy fuel from Repsol. That's changed from 30c/l discount to 10c/l discount from today.
Rita and Arko wish all the #dogsofmastodon a very happy, healthy and fun-filled New Year
@Steveb igualmente
@wishfulexpat exactly what I'm doing. Enjoy your evening
Spain scraps value-added tax on staple foods in aid package
Spain on Tuesday announced a new series of measures including scrapping valued-added tax on staple food, such as bread and milk, and is extending rent and eviction controls to help ease the economic crisis.
Prime Minister Pedro SĂĄnchez announced the measures in an end-of-year speech. The government said it would also cut VAT on cooking oil and pasta from 10% to 5%.
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. Tonight we shall be having a quiet New Years Eve, tucked up in front of the fire and TV, with this lovely bottle of wine đ·
I'm not a wine snob, I buy my wine from El Campo, Mercadona, Carrefour etc like most others, but in the 1990's I became quite partial to Henschke wines. Based in the Barossa valley in south east Australia this vineyard consistently produces quality rich and fruity wines. Salud!

Yesterday we met a lovely couple from Indonesia and showed them round some hiking trails above LanjarĂłn. They obviously enjoyed their experience of the Alpujarra. Only afterwards did we realise that the diminutive, softly spoken, lady was a top media anchor for news in Indonesia, with 23 million Instagram followers! I have none by the way, as Facebook is the only Zuckerberg owned software I allow (occasionally) into my life đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Been back in the UK to see the in-laws and family for Christmas. Cities aren't really my thing, but I did enjoy a visit to the spectacular Lichfield Cathedral
#photography #churches #lichfield
One of the best things about what I do is that I get to meet people from all walks (joke?) of life and show them where I live.
@NormanDunbar Good morning and have a great Christmas from is all down here in southern Spain
@jgundle I too would love to visit and climb in the "other" Sierra. Yours. One day, fingers crossed.
