I can't remember seeing almond blossom appearing pre Christmas. Just shows how warm and dry it's been this December.
Grumpy old mountain man living in Spain

I can't remember seeing almond blossom appearing pre Christmas. Just shows how warm and dry it's been this December.

An Iberian Magpie (Azure Winged Magpie). These little critters are hard to photograph as they obviously hate being photographed. This one though, sat still long enough for me to get a brief glimpse 😆
@[email protected] I meant to say ... on our trip yesterday we saw very little nature in evidence. The wild flowers were spectacular and we saw endemic species but very few insects nor birds

Zamárraga, erigeron de Sierra Nevada (Erigeron frigidus) We found this at 3460m on Mulhacen in Spain's Sierra Nevada mountain range. Endemic and critically endangered species. Lives on poorly develope...

The Sierra Nevada Poppy (Papaver lapeyrousianum). Only grows near the summit of Mulhacén at 3,381 meters of altitude. After the 8 months of snow has melted, and from cracks in the rocky slabs, a small...

Images from the last 2 days trip to visit "Lake with No Name" at 2900m altitude! A magical, serene place where nature ruled. Humans don't often visit here, if ever. My head is filled with images and e...

Found this dragonfly in our greenhouse earlier today. I'm no expert but I think it's an adult female Green Darner, unless anybody can correct me.

These beautiful bougainvillea seem to have attached themselves to one of our olive trees, in fact they are taking it over. But they do look stunning in the morning sunlight

Saw these little beauties up in the high Sierra Nevada today. Gentians (Gentiana sierrae), enjoying life by a mountain stream. Endemic to the Sierra Nevada, they grow between 1800m to 3200m). Always a...

Took a punt on the €75 TTArtisans 25mm f2 APS-C lens. (37.5mm full frame equivalent). Very cheap and with some obvious weaknesses, especially corner sharpness at f2, but in general for the price paid...
@tapasinthesun An interesting place. I'm due a visit there I think. See many Griffon Vultures?
@lacochran nice shot. They aren't the easiest birds to either spot nor get a good photo.
@doersino me too. I'm not the best bird identifier anyway but gulls are almost impossible for me.
Sad news that Tamara, a lynx released at the beginning of March in the Sierra Arana north of Granada, was found run over. It is one of 3 lynxes that were reintroduced on March 3. This is the third lyn...

Pretty in Pink! Almond Blossom today in the Sierra de Contraviesa hills, south of Granada, Spain. Looking south towards the Mediterranean Sea

Let's go see the bird migration she said. Thing is, I'm more of a landscape than a bird photographer. And let's face it, landscapes don't move, well not much anyway. In contrast those little feathered blighters have wings that can flap hundreds of times a minute
