@AdamBishop in my opinion Adam, this is one for the parents. We did a circular route and both the ascent and descent passed through some quite difficult terrain, not scrambling but steep and loose gro...

This says it all about today. Warm sunshine and a beautiful isolated mountain summit with superb views and good friends. I could have stayed here for hours enjoying the peace and tranquility.
@setmeravelles Thank you for your kind comments. Late April/early May seems an ideal time. Any later would be too warm in my opinion. Winter and Spring good time for trails such as the Mazárabe

Late afternoon sun on the dramatic northern faces of the Sierra Nevada. Alcazaba, Mulhacen, Veleta and Puntal de la Caldera looking spectacular. This is definitely "alpine" terrain, even in this relat...

Yesterday afternoon the mountains called & I just had to go up into their lofty realms to spend a couple of hours in their exalted company watching the shadows lengthen & colours deepen. Time to escap...
Eventually the light faded and the sun dropped low over the Vega de Granada. The last rays of light left the summits of the Sierra Nevada. Soul refreshed, it was time to head home. 2/2
@jds I'm a hiker, not a runner, but use Altra Lone Peaks on our summer trails. Really comfortable, but I am always disappointed by their lack of resilience and durability. They wear down far too quick...

Wild Women (+Jim!). A bit of a windy day in the Sierra de Contraviesa today!

The illusion in a photograph. The top 3rd of the image shows the Sierra Nevada which rise some 3000m above the plains of Guadix (marked by the obvious horizontal line). The bottom 2/3rds of the image...

Alcazaba (3371m) and Mulhacen (3482m) looking glorious late yesterday afternoon from the A92 Motorway north of Granada

Report about a two day hiking trip into the Tabernas Deserts, Almeria, Spain

Describes a linear walk along the intricate and quiet hill ridges lying between the villages of Lentegi and Albuñuelas in the Sierra de Almijara, south of Spain.

Some beautiful and somewhat lonely trees highlighted by the low winter sun's rays

Exploratory day hike today and all within a short drive from home. This range of mountains lies between Lentegi and Albuñuelas, a complicated mass of peaks, ridges, deep valleys and dry ramblas. Mostl...
@tapasinthesun this is part of our winter walking week with him. This particular hike we call the Almond Blossom walk that fits nicely in with one of his books. We also run 2 spring and 2 autumn walki...
