A great hike this morning in the Rio Bacal and this afternoon we were in position to see "La Vuelta" pass through. One of the world's largest spectator sports still free to see live. Even if the passi...

A large earthquake of magnitude 5 shakes Granada: material damage, rescues and emergency activated. Happened just after 1am. Some friends up the hill felt it but I was away with the fairies. Felt noth...

Looking up the Dilar valley to the Alayos range, Trevenque and the Cerro Huenes group. Behind are the Sierra Nevada. Taken during yesterdays a partial eclipse. Taken from the peak of Boca de la Pesca...

Bit of a disappointing trip. Nice ascent & quiet summit, picnic + wine, until 50+ others joined us with music, shouting etc. We headed off to an adjacent hill. Difficult to get shot during eclipse as...

River Walking the Río Bacal - Escaping the Andalusian Summer Heat
When southern Spain hits 40°C+, you either go high or go low. We chose low — an unmaintained river walk through the Sierra de Almijara that turned into a five-hour, 8km battle through brambles, fallen trees, and deep pools. We planned 14km but we eventually bottled it in favour of some ice cold beers.

@woollypigs sorry I haven't posted much from our trip. We didn't find a lot of time to write. Will catch up on that next week. At the moment we are at Fiscal and starting our road trip home to Granada...

Things don't always work out as planned. Nature always wins eh? Today I had packed my high mountain gear ready for a snow day but our dirt road into the high mountains was blocked by a landslide. Inst...

View on the way to "work 🤣" yesterday! Pampaneira town with Capileira outlined on the higher shoulder above the Poqueira Gorge. The peak of Veleta (3394m) in the Sierra Nevada beyond.

A piece of film history, then and now, 60+ years apart. Clint Eastwood and Eli Wallach in "The Good the Bad and the Ugly" at a place we know as Crocodile rock in the spectacular Tabernas badlands of A...

1/ Tough hike but what a day, still buzzing! Sometimes I don't think we fully appreciate just how much raw, untamed beauty and wildness we have so close to our homes. Saw nobody all day. Gotta go back...

Images from our Tabernas desert hike last Friday. I never fail to be inspired by this landscape and can see why it is used so much by the movie industry, set only some 25km inland from Almeria city.
