Camp at Laguna Peñon Negro

A short trip to a secretive camp, don't stay too long ... and leave. It sounds respectful and perfect! "No pain, no gain" so they say. Yesterday in the heat of the afternoon (and with no mechanical uplift available) we made our way uphill to a remote lake, rarely visited, that we had never been to before. Laguna de Peñón Negro.

A cool, convivial evening spent with the our group in beautiful surrounding and up at first light this morning to see the sunrise and be on our way up Tajos de Peñón Negro with stunning views towards Alcazaba and Siete Lagunas.

We arrived back down in Capileira before the heat of the day really started and in time for a couple of welcome beers pre-12 o'clock. A superb smash and grab raid into the mountains visiting pastures new.

First time out for our Samaya tent. OK, not quite the raging blizzards that it should be able to cope with. But, it's large (2-3 man), lightweight (1.5kg) and easy to put up. No condensation problems meant Kiersten Hartley Rowland and I spent a very comfortable night. Bring on the raging blizzards!
