Sometimes when we head into the mountains, things don't always go according to plan. Yesterday, we ran into some tough challenges on a trail that was overgrown with waist high, spiky shrubs, leaving us with some bruises and cuts on our legs. To escape this, we decided to veer off the trail and make our way directly uphill to a ridge line further away.
Hard work but at the ridge line, we were treated to some amazing views of the northwestern side of the Sierra Nevada. The return journey through the deserted detritus of the summer ski area was tedious.
Every time we venture into the mountains, we experience something new and unexpected but it's this very element of surprise and unpredictability that keeps us coming back for more.
