@jpoesen I would suggest you buy Boafeng uv5r radios. Just of 20€ each from Ali Express. They will need programming though when you receive. I have the PMR446 channels programmed in.
Mesh radios - I use the Meshcore network which is spreading rapidly throughout Europe. You have to decide whether you want to connect through an app (bluetooth) or via USB cable. Best thing is to visit the website and the flasher https://meshcore.co.uk/. Happy to help.
