@TimKStanton Big plus to Garmin is that it will work anywhere in the world (Iridium). I once got caught out on the Southern Patagonian Icecap in a blizzard because sat comms failed. At the time it was the very first "Spot" I was using, but coverage was very sketchy and in a "gray" area on the map. Weather updates failed to reach us. For situations like that, you can't beat the iridium network.
