Andalucia is so varied for outdoor activities. These collection of posts show the things we have done within Andalucía Province
The Cumbres Verdes (Green Peaks) are well known to the local spanish Granadinos as they are very close to the Granada ring road (20 mins), so access is easy. In spite of this the walking is quiet and unspoilt and has a certain attraction missing in the higher and wilder Sierra Nevada.
During April 2013, we joined a Berghaus sponsored expedition attempting to make the first ski and snowboard climb and descent of the highest active volcano in Kamchatka, Klyutchevskoy Sopka (4750m)

Reports from our many different expeditions to visit the Patagonian Icecap near El Chalten. We started going there in 2006 and our last trip was in 2016
I tend to go against the grain. When mobile phones became "de rigeur" for taking images I reverted back to a trusty camera and although I could compose a good photo, I was ultimately a point and press merchant. During mountain days I just didn't have time to think too long about the image I was trying to capture. I got some good shots but more by luck than judgement.
Year-round Scrambling Adventures in Andalucia. Andalucia province has a wealth of untapped scrambling potential. We try to do some of the best there is.
I first visited the lofty summits of the Sierra Nevada in April 2000. Predictably I was greeted with lots of sun and snow. It blew my mind and had me rushing back time and again for more. Since then I have had the pleasure of experiencing these mountains in all weathers, at all times of the year. I never tire of them!
The ultimate way to travel in the mountains! With good snow sure conditions from January to May, the Sierra Nevada is one of Europe's best areas to learn the basics of travelling through the high mountains on skis. It is backcountry skiing at its finest! Good for both beginners and plenty on offer for the more experienced.
During the winter months snow is in abundance; and with great trails offering wonderful scenery, snowshoers will find this a wonderful destination. Moreover, snowshoers of every level of skill and experience will find plenty of trails to meet their desires and needs.
Trekking and multi day mountain related posts from Spain's Sierra Nevada mountains. The high Sierra Nevada provide wonderful opportunities for mountain trekking of the highest quality. The traverse of the main ridge takes 5 days and covers all the major peaks. Mulhacen, highest mountain in mainland Spain is always a challenge
Andalucía has a host of excellent via ferrata destinations. They include Tyrolean traverses, zip lines, wire bridges, rungs and ladders.
There is great variety in Andalucia. From the beautiful GR7 and white village hill trails of the Alpujarras to the lesser known areas of the Sierra de Huetor, Lecrin Valley and Cumbres Verdes near Granada. Whether hiking in the fascinating Tabernas deserts of Almeria or tramping the heights of the mountains above the Costa del Sol.
